'If GT qualifies for the finals, they will definitely win the trophy'

Ravichandran Ashwin had no hesitation in predicting that Gujarat Titans (GT) will beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Friday, May 29.

The former India off-spinner further said that if the Shubman Gill-led side reaches the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad on Sunday, they will emerge as champions. Ashwin believes that Gujarat's knowledge of the conditions at the Narendra Modi Stadium will give them a huge edge over the defending champions.

While Ashwin said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi This factor could turn things in favor of the Royals on Friday had they favored the Titans to eventually clinch the win.

“GT will beat RR 100% in every way. I can give that in writing. And if GT qualifies for the final, they are definitely winning the trophy. They have Ahmedabad's track by an inch. GT will win their second title. RCB's only hope is to catch a flight and stop GT in Mullanpur as they have no chance in Ahmedabad,” Ashwin said in a video on his YouTube channel.

“The truth is that RR should beat GT in Qualifier 2 in terms of analysis. Still, GT will win. Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be a big factor, but he knows he has to be careful against Siraj and Rabada. Even though he scored a few in the two matches against GT, he did not get disappointed. He definitely has to score and I want him to do that but I firmly believe that GT is going to win.”

Ashwin has suggested changes in GT's playing eleven.

Titans made an interesting decision in Qualifier 2 as they dropped Arshad Khan and played in Kulwant Khejroliya. However, the move backfired as the former RCB fast bowler gave away 31 runs in two overs. Ashwin urged the Titans to play either Ashok Sharma or Arshad in place of Khejroliya.

He said, “GT should remove Kulwant Khejroliya and replace him with Ashok Sharma or Arshad Khan. But they should not drop Nishant Sindhu.”
