Punjab Kings (PBKS) head coach Ricky Ponting said that Arshdeep Singh The dressing room has a great character, which is far behind the group. Arshdeep has been playing for PBK since 2019. He is taking a major wicket for the franchise this season, who has taken 18 wickets in 14 matches.
26 -year -old, India's biggest wicket in T20IS. However, he never got an opportunity to represent the national team in the red-ball format. However, this may change next month as he has been nominated in India's 18-Man Squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against England.
Ponting said that after the announcement of the squad and Arshdeep was selected, he created a point to declare good news during the team meeting.
Talking to the ICC review, Arshdeep said, “I have a good chance to know really well. He is a great character around the team. He is a fun-dying boy. He is very far behind the group, which is very good. What we all like,” Ponting said about Arsepdeep while talking to ICC review.
“As soon as the squad was declared on the second day, the test squad, the first thing I did in our team meeting was to ensure that I admitted that Arshdeep was raised in front of everyone and just congratulated him in front of everyone. I think it is well worthy. I think he would bowl well in England.”
I will really be in my test team in the beginning: Ponting
Ponting feels that Arshdeep will do well with a Duke ball in England, and his experience of playing county cricket will come in handy. The former Australian captain said that if India does not pick him up to play directly then it would be surprised.
“I will really put them in my test team initially. He is very skilled. I think Duke Ball will help him in Britain too. And I think it is a left-bormer in your team, I think, if India doesn't do this, it would be a little surprising for me,” Ponting said.
He said, “He has played county cricket and he also knows the situation there. Arshdeep is close to six feet, so he is getting a decent bounce … As we know that the ball in England is still in 30, 40 or 50 overs.
PBK has been designed to face Royal Challengers Bangalore at Uttempt 1 at Maharaja Yadvindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Thursday 29 May.
