india and rcb cricketer Jitesh Sharma A statement has come out against young Vaibhav Suryavanshi, claiming that the starlet is not “professional”. Although this statement may raise eyebrows, the context and reasons behind it remain fascinating.

Speaking ahead of the start of the new IPL season, Jitesh described what it was like to share the dressing room with the Samastipur-born player, adding that he had tried his best to stop the young cricketer from following the disciplines that are expected of a cricketer who is playing at the highest level.

“He is not professional, I can tell you that. Everyone is trying to make him professional, but I don't think he will ever be professional. He will be professional on the field, but off the field, he won't be. I am trying my best, telling him not to eat ice cream at night,” Jitesh said during a podcast on AB de Villiers' YouTube channel.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi And Jitesh Sharma represented India A in the Rising Stars Asia Cup in 2025. In that tournament, India A missed out on reaching the final after losing a closely contested match against Bangladesh A in the Super Over. Vaibhav was the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, scoring 234 runs in four innings, including a blistering 144 off just 42 balls against UAE.

The teenage talented player is set to play his second season in the IPL. After breaking the record for the fastest century by an Indian batsman in the IPL last season, Vaibhav will look to be a consistent presence for the Royals this season. With the departure of former captain Sanju Samson, who was a consistent and reliable presence at the top for the Royals, there will be more responsibility on the shoulders of the 15-year-old.

The 14-year-old performed brilliantly in the Under-19 World Cup, winning the Player of the Tournament title with 439 runs, which included a mammoth 175 off just 80 balls in the final against England.
