'Handled him very badly' – Sanjay Manjrekar not impressed with CSK's move under MS Dhoni's captaincy

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has launched a scathing attack on Chennai Super Kings for their handling of the surrounding situation. ms dhoni And his availability this season.

The Super Kings have managed only two wins in the season, and Ruturaj Gaikwad's form with the bat has been heavily criticized. The captain has scored 82 runs in six innings and Manjrekar has defended him by putting the onus on the Super Kings management.

“The blame, I'm going to put on the owners and the people making big decisions. Because Gaikwad, before he became captain, was exceptional at the top of the order,” Manjrekar told Sportstar.

The cricketer turned boardcaster talked about the fan culture surrounding MS Dhoni's stature in the IPL. The former India captain has been ruled out of the season due to a calf problem and is yet to participate in super kings In this weather. He also narrated an incident when he had to face the anger of his fans.

“And then that thing with MS Dhoni – whether he's going to play, whether he's going to be the captain – he handled it very badly. And that's where you see the sycophancy of the Indian culture that has seeped into cricket as well. I mean, Dhoni doesn't just have a fan following, there's sycophancy all around it.”

Manjrekar concluded, “There was an instance of Dhoni trying to put his bat in the crease, and it was a very close call. And I said he was clearly short and should be run out. They got angry with me for saying that because it was seen as anti-Dhoni. Somehow, they lost sight of the bigger picture.”

Manjrekar also raised the question as to how the Super Kings can include Dhoni in the batting order if he returns from injury.

“Maybe, but then you have to play Dhoni on the field. And how do you do that? Consistently, he is finding it difficult to bowl the ball. It was a bit of a joke when he came down the order to face three or four balls and the coverage publicized it as 'What an innings'. It went on for four balls. So it is not possible now, and it is never going to be a long-term solution. I can't pretend to know how Ruturaj felt when MS was on the field. There was a feeling, but not being captain, as opposed to not being there at all,” he said.

Super Kings will take on Mumbai Indians in their next match on April 23 at the Wankhede Stadium. There is news that Dhoni has gone to Mumbai with the team.
