talking points:
1) Young fast bowlers showed their talent
Sunrisers Hyderabad found positives in their bowling attack as the experienced campaigners as well as the youngsters stepped up to impress. Prafulla Hinge and Saqib Hussain rattled the top order and shifted the momentum in SRH's favor for a while. The pair took key wickets including Sai Sudarshan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, putting Gujarat Titans under early pressure.
2) Sundar's late fireworks powered GT
While Sai Sudarshan led the innings with a crucial knock of 61 runs, it was Washington Sundar who provided the late momentum to Gujarat Titans. The all-rounder scored an unbeaten half-century at a strike rate of over 150, took on the bowlers in the death overs and helped GT post a competitive total on the board.
3) GT bowlers never allowed SRH to settle down
Gujarat Titans bowlers dominated the chase from the start by striking at regular intervals and maintaining pressure on the SRH batsmen. Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder led the bowling attack with three wickets each, while the rest of the bowling unit made effective contributions to wrap up the innings early and seal a comfortable win.
who said what?
Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad (losing captain)
I think he bowled really well in the second innings. I was very happy when we got out in the beginning, but yes, the wicket was very difficult. I think they took full advantage of it, their bowlers, they bowled really well. So, yes, maybe try and look at ways to break out of that spell, but, you know, they deserve a little bit of credit. Yeah, I mean, you see it all the time. When you hit the ball from behind it looked like it was a very difficult wicket and they really didn't give us many chances to score. So, maybe in our bowling innings, you learn from that, you feel maybe we could have increased our length a little bit more. But overall, you know, I thought, this is as good T20 bowling as you'll see from them. Our batting order has been excellent. So I don't think we need to read too far into this today. I think all four of our top four have more than 400 runs to their name. So, people are doing really well. This keeps happening in T20 cricket. So we go to some places we know well. So, have some faith in him. (On qualifying scenarios) I think getting ahead very early in the count (is important). I think we've won five or six of the last seven. These last few games give you some breathing room. So, yes, we still have two games to qualify. So again, back to what brought us victory in the first place and yes, it was put behind us very quickly.
Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans (winning captain)
It was good for us on a difficult wicket. We talked about getting closer to 160-170 without the bowling attack and making it difficult for them. The way we bowled in the powerplay helped us set up the game. Honestly, it's all about being consistent. He is a very experienced candidate for us. It is not easy to bowl four overs in this humidity.
Kagiso Rabada, Player of the Match
I didn't judge the catch properly, it would have been good to take another wicket. Season in and season out, just try to do the best for the team. Just leave everything to the team. Rhythm is everything and you have to find a way to click somehow. It's just about finding out what kind of wicket we are playing on and see how much you can achieve without looking too far ahead. 100%, they showed us how to bowl on this wicket and we did it better.
