talking points:
Vaibhav Suryavanshi's rocket start
Rajasthan Royals suffered an early blow when Yashasvi Jaiswal was out cheaply after scoring 12 runs. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi along with Dhruv Jurel at the crease launched a brilliant counterattack. The young player scored 46 runs with the help of five fours and three sixes in just 21 balls at an explosive strike rate of 219.05. The duo stitched a quickfire partnership of 70 runs in just 34 balls for the second wicket, putting RR in a strong position during the powerplay.
Mitchell Starc's triple wicket over
Experienced fast bowler Mitchell Starc turned the match on its head by bowling a sensational 15th over for Delhi Capitals. He dismissed Riyan Parag on the second ball of the over, followed by Donovan Ferreira on the next ball. Starc completed a memorable over by dismissing Ravi Singh on the fifth ball, finishing with excellent figures of 4/40 and shifting the momentum in DC's favour.
Akshar Patel's steady end
During the chase, Abhishek Porel and KL Rahul provided a strong platform with a solid opening partnership. However, Delhi Capitals lost wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs, which created some pressure towards the end of the innings. Captain Akshar Patel maintained his composure and led the team to victory by scoring unbeaten 34 runs in 18 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes. Ashutosh Sharma also played an impressive cameo, remaining unbeaten on 18 off just five balls and completing the chase brilliantly.
who said what?
Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals (losing captain)
(Where did you lose it?) “Actually, almost everything. We were in a pretty good position after 14 overs. After I got out, we didn't take advantage of it. It was… it should have been 220-230, something like that. And as far as the bowling is concerned, I think we weren't there. We weren't up to the target. Ferreira was not a gamble. I know it looks like a gamble on TV, but then you have two left-handers. “I would rather bowl another over to Donovan. I think if you want to win a trophy, you have to be better than what we have done in the last 4-5 games. But today, I think, energy-wise, execution-wise.” In that sense, if we keep playing like this, we should not be in contention for the top 4. Also, I think it depends on a lot of other teams so that we can win two games, we didn't take it, so if we don't qualify, it's our fault. Can do and hopefully we can get two wins.
Akshar Patel, Delhi Capitals (winning captain)
Winning on home ground is obviously a good feeling. Winning the last home game feels special. In the matches we lost, we lost wickets in clusters. We made sure that doesn't happen today. We bowled really well in the middle overs to make a comeback. There was excellent bowling in the last 6 overs. The bowling unit refused to accept defeat.
Mitchell Starc, Player of the Match
an interesting. We didn't bowl very badly in the powerplay. We fought really well till the end. Very good start for us. It's always good to get those two points. That's the key, adjusting quickly. Lungi bowled brilliantly. We gelled really well after the powerplay. As a bowler you have to leave your ego behind. (On the bowling group) There's a lot of talent there. We have seen some young talent emerging. It is a positive thing to see the youth coming here and performing.
