Delhi Capitals has included Rehan Ahmed in the team in place of Ben Duckett.


Delhi Capitals (DC) have secured his services and replaced one Englishman with another. Rehan Ahmed As a replacement for Ben Duckett for the remainder of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 21-year-old player has joined the 2020 finalists for a price of Rs 75 lakh. Ahmed was part of the 2026 mini auction but remained unsold. However, being part of the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) allowed him to come into this year's IPL as a replacement for his compatriot Duckett. He will be a part of an IPL franchise for the first time in his career.

The 21-year-old leg-spinning all-rounder has joined the DC family as a replacement for opening batsman Ben Duckett. The arrival of Rehan Ahmed adds a lethal new dimension to the Capitals' bowling arsenal. Rehan, known for his deceptive googlies and fearless lower-order hitting, joins Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam as the wrist-spinning options,” DC’s official statement said.

Ahmed has played 13 T20 matches for England, in which he has taken 15 wickets and made a strike rate of 142.30 with the bat. The spin-bowling all-rounder has a good deal of experience playing in the franchise circuit, having been a part of Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League and Trent Rockets in The Hundred 2025. He has also played two seasons in the ILT20 for the Gulf Giants.

Ahmed was part of the Leicestershire team playing in Division One of the Rothesay County Championship following promotion last season. He played twice for Fox but will now come to India to compete in the IPL.

DuckettMeanwhile, he opted out of the 2026 IPL at the eleventh hour to focus on his England career after a disappointing Ashes series, where he averaged only 20.20 and failed to register a single score above 50. He is currently representing Nottinghamshire in the County Championship.
