CSK XI against RR Probable playing 11 of Chennai Super Kings against Rajasthan Royals for the third match of IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finished last in 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). The Men in Yellow will look to bounce back strongly from that defeat and aim for a record sixth IPL title. They will start their campaign against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday, March 30 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Super Kings have a strong group of players who can take them further. Ruturaj Gaikwad is back after missing a large part of last year's IPL due to injury. The right-handed batsman will be looking to lead his team with enthusiasm, especially with the great MS Dhoni missing the first two weeks of the IPL due to a calf muscle strain.

CSK's strongest predicted XI for their first game of the season is as follows:

Top order: Sanju Samson (wk), Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain), Ayush Mhatre

CSK is one of the strongest top three in the tournament. Ruturaj GaikwadSanju Samson, and Ayush Mhatre are three aggressive right-handed batsmen who can take the game away from the opposition in quick time. Samson was in great form during the recently concluded T20 World Cup and he will be looking to extend his form through the IPL. Gaikwad has been quite consistent for CSK over the last few years. Mhatre, on the other hand, showed glimpses of his talent last season, and this year, he will look to go from strength to strength, taking confidence from his Under-19 World Cup success, where he led India to glory.

Middle order: Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dubey

Dewald Brewis came in as a mid-tournament injury replacement last season and played some breathtaking innings. The South African batsman is a middle-order batsman to keep an eye on this season. If he is in form, he can attack the best bowling attacks in world cricket.

Shivam Dubey He was an integral part of India's T20 World Cup winning team this year. He played some important innings not only in the middle order but also playing the role of finisher. Dubey has always been a great spin-basher, but in recent times he has significantly improved his batting against fast bowlers. It will be interesting to see how much Gaikwad uses him with the ball.

Bottom order: Prashant Veer, Jamie Overton

Prashant Veer He was one of the headliners during the IPL 2026 mini auction when he was priced at Rs 14.20 crore. He is the joint-most expensive uncapped player in the history of the league along with his CSK teammate Karthik Sharma. Veer would like to play Ravindra Jadeja in CSK, as he is a talented 20-year-old left-arm spin bowler who also bats left-handed.

England seam-bowling all-rounder Jamie Overton was also with the franchise last season. He bowls heavy balls at good pace. However, there is room for improvement as far as its accuracy is concerned. Overton also needs to contribute more with the bat, as he has the potential to play a vital role lower down the order.

Bowler: Anshul Kamboj, Rahul Chahar, Noor Ahmed, Khaleel Ahmed

Anshul Kamboj is not one of the fastest bowlers. However, he is known for bowling consistent line and length. He can swing the new ball, but it will be interesting to see if he gets any movement on the Guwahati pitch, which is not very friendly to bowlers.

Khalil Ahmed and Noor Ahmed There were two rare rays of hope for CSK last season. The latter was particularly impressive, taking 24 wickets at an average of 17 in 14 matches. If Khalil can take wickets with the new ball, it will make things easier for Ahmed in the middle order.

Rahul Chahar was signed by CSK during the mini auction and it is expected that he will play from the beginning. The 26-year-old leg spinner has the experience of playing 79 IPL games and seven international matches. He would like to start his journey with CSK with a commendable performance.

Probable playing eleven of CSK:

Sanju Samson (wk), Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain), Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brewis, Shivam Dubey, Prashant Veer, Jamie Overton, Anshul Kamboj, Rahul Chahar, Noor Ahmed, Khaleel Ahmed.

Impact Player: Karthik Sharma
