CSK recruit Karthik Sharma's Rs 14.2 crore signing helped repay loan to father, who quit his job to support son

Right after the historic bid, Karthik's father Manoj Sharma said that he will be able to repay all the loans taken by his son to nurture his young talent. The father further said that his family is grateful for the immense support received from many people who were able to recognize Karthik's potential at an early age. He further thinks that this will be enough to repay the loan of Rs 27-28 lakh taken so far.

“We are grateful to Bharatpur DCA Secretary and Lokander Singh Chahar (father of India fast bowler) Deepak Chahar) for their support. Yes, we are in debt, but hopefully we will be in a position to repay it soon,” Times of India quoted Manoj Sharma as saying.

Moreover, Karthik himself was extremely happy to find a place in the CSK dressing room to begin his journey in the Indian Premier League. He revealed how his father was constantly supporting him and would accompany him to the academy for training and also give throwdowns to the wicketkeeper-batsman in the nets.

“Playing for CSK is like a dream come true. I am both excited and nervous. I want to thank my father, because he left his job and trained me day and night to make me the player I am today. My father used to be with me when I practiced. Every day he and I would go to the academy for training, where he would bowl to me for hours.” Karthik expressed.
