The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has officially approached the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI), requesting the reconsideration of Eden Garden of Kolkata as a venue as a venue IPL 2025 Last. Originally scheduled to host the Grand Finale on 25 May, the Eden Garden lost its hosting rights after the tournament was suspended for nine days due to geopolitical tension. The final was later re -determined by 3 June, which led to the BCCI reconsidered the venue for Shikhar Clash amid concerns over rain forecasts.
After the suspension, the BCCI announced that the remaining league-stage matches would be hosted in six places, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Bangalore. Although the playoff places have been finalized so far, Kolkata was sidelined due to the concerns of the possible weather.
After the announcement of the site, the cab reached the Regional Meteorological Center in Kolkata, asked to predict an official season for June 3. However, the Met Office clarified that the exact weather forecast it cannot be overcome before and that a reliable forecast would be possible only around 25 May.

The cab also contacted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Delhi, to receive only a similar response, all documents were presented to BCCI. Cab officials believe that it is unfair to except the Eden Gardens based on the speculative weather conditions.
The cab said in a statement, “We believe things will work because we have done a great job in organizing everything. Also, you cannot predict the weather patterns so quickly, and we have presented all the official documents to this effect.”
According to Cricbuzz report, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is now the front-colon hosting the final And qualifier 2, given the low rainfall in the city. Despite facing rain concerns in early June, Mumbai is also under consideration for other playoff fixtures. Meanwhile, the board is monitoring the forecast in all shortlisted cities before finalizing the playoff places.
The association believes that the decision is in the hands of the BCCI. However, if Kolkata misses hosting rights this season, there is a possibility that it can be compensated with important matches such as the semi-finals or finals of the ICC T20 World Cup in February-March 2026.
