“We have few changes. Four or five. Because there are no foreigners today. All local players are playing today,” Taskin said.
BPL rules state that a team must field a minimum of two overseas players in their XI this season. The BCB issued a statement shortly after the launch saying the tournament’s technical committee had given approval for an all-home Xi in this case. “The Durbar Rajshahi team … has applied to the BPL Technical Committee for special approval to field a team consisting exclusively of Bangladeshi players for today’s match against Rangpur Riders due to non-availability of players from abroad,” the BCB said. “After a review of the application and in accordance with the provisions set out in clause 1.2.8 of the BPL 2024-25 match conditions, the Technical Committee has granted approval for Durbar Rajshahi to field a team of only Bangladeshi players for this Match.” This is the first instance of a team playing a BPL game without overseas players in its XI.
Rajshahi team owner Rahman also ran into trouble with his hotel in Chattogram when he failed to pay this bill on time. Television reports showed a security person parked outside his hotel room, and a car he was using was impounded.
The team changed hotels in Dhaka on Sunday morning. The overseas players stayed at the hotel in Dhaka as Sunday’s match got under way at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
