The innings was revived by Karthik Sharma, who played an extraordinary knock of 71 runs in 42 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 169.05. He made an important partnership of 70 runs in 44 balls for the fourth wicket with Dewald Brevis.
In the closing stages, Shivam Dubey (32* off 16) and Prashant Veer ensured a strong finish, taking CSK to a competitive total. Akash Maharaj Singh was the best bowler for LSG with three wickets for 26 runs in four overs.
In reply, Lucknow Super Giants chased the target easily by scoring 188/3 in 16.4 overs. Mitchell Marsh played a stormy innings of 90 runs in 38 balls with the help of nine fours and seven sixes and made a strong opening partnership of 135 runs in just 70 balls with Josh Inglis. After this, Nicholas Puran completed the chase brilliantly by scoring unbeaten 32 runs in 17 balls.
CSK bowlers struggled to contain the aggressive batting and the result pushed Chennai Super Kings to sixth place in the standings, while Lucknow Super Giants remained at the bottom with four wins from 12 matches.
