Chennai Super Kings (CSK) continued their resurgence in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) with a stunning eight-wicket win. Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday, May 02 at MA Chidambaram Stadium. The win helped CSK consolidate their position in the points table, while MI continued to struggle this season.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians got off to a bad start after losing Will Jacques early in the powerplay. Ryan Rickelton provided some momentum with a quickfire 37, but wickets falling at regular intervals kept him from scoring big. It was Naman Dheer who took charge of the innings by scoring 57 runs in 37 balls, but his dismissal in the middle increased MI's troubles further. Contributions from Suryakumar Yadav and captain Hardik Pandya helped MI post 159/7 in 20 overs.
The bowlers gave a disciplined performance for CSK. Anshul Kamboj was the best bowler with three wickets, while Noor Ahmed kept the visitors in control with some crucial breakthroughs.
