Chennai Super Kings registered their second win of the season by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs in the 22nd match of IPL 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
After being invited to bat by KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane, CSK posted a competitive score of 192/5 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson scored 48 runs in 32 balls, while Dewald Brewis scored 41 runs in 29 balls. After the early dismissal of Ruturaj Gaikwad, young Ayush Mhatre provided vital momentum by scoring a blistering 38 runs in just 17 balls to take the score to over 220. Brewis also made a 51-run partnership with Sarfaraz Khan for the fourth wicket. For KKR, Kartik Tyagi was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/35.
In reply, KKR could only score 160/7 runs in their 20 overs. Ramandeep Singh was the top scorer by scoring 35 runs in 23 balls. Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 50 runs for the third wicket, while Ramandeep and Rovman Powell added 63 runs for the seventh wicket, but it was not enough to chase the target. CSK's bowling was led by Noor Ahmed, who took 3 for 21, while Anshul Kamboj took 2 for 32.
With this win, CSK moved up to eighth on the points table with four points, while KKR remained at the bottom after suffering their fourth defeat of the season.
