Malayalam actor Basil Joseph once again surprises fans with his prediction skills after accurately predicting his close friend's six sanju samson During the IPL 2026 match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday, May 18.
SRH beat CSK by five wickets with six balls to spare, but the biggest talking point of the night came off the field. Basil, who was present in the stands along with Rhea Shibu and the Athiradi team, was seen making a surprising prediction before Samson hit a six in the stands.
A video going viral on social media shows Basil excitedly saying, 'Chah Adika Poran, Chah Adika Poran', (he is going to hit a six) while watching the game from the upper stand. Shibu responded with a thumbs-up, and a few seconds later Samson launched the ball over the ropes as predicted. After Basil's prediction comes true, the Athiradi team immediately starts celebrating with cheers, hugs and high-fives.
This is not the first time Basil's cricket predictions have attracted attention online. Earlier, during India's T20 World Cup final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad, the actor had similarly predicted Samson's six, the moment also went viral among cricket fans.
Talking about the game, Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bat first on a dry Chepauk wicket. Samson gave CSK a flying start by scoring 27 runs off 13 balls, while Urvil Patel played a brief cameo. Gaikwad struggled to pick up the pace and managed only 15 runs from 21 balls before being dismissed.
CSK's innings later gained momentum with Karthik Sharma's quickfire 32 and a brilliant inning from Dewald Brevis, who scored 44 off just 27 balls, taking the five-time champions to 180/7.
During the chase, SRH lost Travis Head early, but Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan rebuilt the innings quickly. The game eventually tilted decisively in SRH's favor thanks to a match-winning 75-run partnership between Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen.
After Klaasen's dismissal, Kishan continued to chase the target before Smaran Ravichandran hit the winning four off the last ball of the 19th over off Anshul Kamboj, sealing SRH's win and a playoff spot for Gujarat Titans.
