The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has introduced domestic contracts for an additional 30 female cricketers who are either uncapped or have not played for Bangladesh in some time. This is in addition to the 18 centrally recruited women, with the newly recruited players receiving a monthly salary until June 2025. The contract system is similar to men’s first-class contracts in Bangladesh and aims to increase the number of players all over the country
Current centrally contracted players were also given a raise at Saturday’s BCB meeting.
“The women’s national contract is similar to the top-level player contract for male cricketers,” the BCB said in a statement. “The board has decided to introduce this in an effort to provide financial stability to a larger group of female cricketers. Thirty female cricketers, who are not part of the central contract, have been placed on the national women’s contract for to November 1, 2024. until June 30, 2025.”
The BCB has raised the pay in all four grades of its women’s central contracts for the period from October 2024 to June 2025. Grades A and B will now get 120,000 BDT (approx. US$1,000) and 100,000 BDT (850 USD approx.) per month respectively, an increase of BDT 20,000 each between 2023 and 2024, while Grades C and D will get BDT 70,000 approx. .) and 60,000 BDT (approx. $500) per month respectively, an increase of 10,000 BDT each.
The BCB has also introduced a match and series bonus for women. They will receive BDT 100,000 (approx. $850) and BDT 50,000 (approx. $420) in ODIs and T20Is, respectively, for topping one of the top three ICC-ranked sides. The bonus amounts for beating the fourth to sixth ranked teams are BDT 75,000 (approx. $630) and BDT 35,000 (approx. $300) and for beating the seventh to ninth ranked teams are BDT 50,000 (approx. $420) and 30,250 BDT approx. ).
