The Indian Premier League (IPL) has long been dominated by two franchises, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Both have won the title A record for each five times and have been the most consistent teams. CSK and MI shut down the horns in their 2025 season opener, where former ended a win in a close match. However, both teams have faced difficulties. Both franchises have made errors with issues of selection and execution of MI, and inconsistent performance of CSK under a new captain. If these teams do not fix their mistakes soon, they may be a serious risk of disappearing in the playoffs. If Mi and CSK do not change things immediately, their chances of achieving playoff berths will be significantly reduced.
