18th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) Friday, May 9 was suspended for a week. The future of the 10-team tournament is uncertain amid increasing tension between India and Pakistan.
On Thursday, things began with the abandonment of matches between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. Before the match started, Dharamasala Airport and nearby people were already closed. Mumbai Indians were designed to face the Punjab kings in Dharmasala on Sunday, 11 May, but it had already shifted to Ahmedabad.
After 10.1 overs in the first innings, Punjab scored 122/1 runs before a light towers were closed. This was caused by a power outage due to a significant technical failure in the region. Fans were asked to evacuate as soon as possible.
Players and assistant employees of Punjab and Delhi traveled to Jalandhar by bus from Dharamsa and then took a train to Delhi.

On Friday afternoon, IPL officials issued a statement to confirm that the remaining of the tournament was suspended for a week with immediate effect. Later, IPL president Arun Dhumal said that there was no meaning with the tournament between India and Pakistan amidst the increase in cross -border tension. He said that the situation should be assessed in the coming days and a decision will be taken about scheduling of the remaining matches.
ICC President J Shah also gave strong support for the Indian Armed Forces. In an Instagram story, he praised his bravery, saying, “Our armed forces are our pride. We salute our country to save our brave men and women from terrorism.”
Travel logistics for franchise players are watching. Indian players are returning home, while foreign lots will be thrown out with the help of BCCI and team management.
