Punjab Kings (PBK) The IPL has qualified for the IPL playoff after a gap of 11 years. In his final league match, he topped the table of the IPL 2025 points, defeating Mumbai Indians (MI), completing the league stage with nine wins out of 14 matches.
Shreyas Iyer -led unit will take Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Qualifier 1 in Mullanpur as they are targeting their first completion qualification since 2014. Meanwhile, the franchise in Bengaluru has also been brilliantly led by Rajat Peetidar and Captain Jitesh Sharma has been erected due to the previous injury.
This is PBKS's second playoff attendance since IPL 2014, where he also had a memorable run, but an aggressive end. In 2014, the Punjab -based franchise faced Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Qualifier 1, but lost the match despite a good bowling performance. KKR scored 163 runs in the first innings, in which PBKS bowler Karanvir Singh took three wickets in his four-over spell.
However, chasing PBK decreased by 28 runs, KKR Pesar Umesh Yadav took three wickets. PBKs defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to bounce back to Qualifier 2 and eventually made it in the final, where they once again lost to KKR and ended as runners -up. Since then, they kept remembering the merit until the dry end ended at the end this year.
In IPL 2025Arshdeep Singh has led the bowling attack with 18 wickets which makes him the team's biggest wicket -taking. Shreyas Iyer has also demonstrated his talent with the bat, scoring 514 runs to be the top run-scorer of PBKS this season.
PBK will now look at the qualifier 1 to move its speed as the winner will directly secure a place in the final. On the other hand, tonight's game loser will face the winner of Eliminator in Qualifier 2, which will be played in Ahmedabad on 1 June.
