It is noteworthy that Kohli has not played any professional game since India's ODI series against New Zealand in January. In his last match, the former captain had scored a brilliant 124 runs in Indore. Despite their best efforts, India lost the game by 41 runs and lost the series 2–1.
Meanwhile, RCB will be hoping that Kohli can repeat his excellent form while playing for India in the winter. The 37-year-old was the leading run-scorer for his team during the 2025 IPL season and the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament. The top-order batsman scored 657 runs at an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71.
Kohli also contributed well in the showpiece final in Ahmedabad. He was the top run-scorer for his team, scoring 43 runs in 35 balls before being dismissed by Azmatullah Umarzai in the 15th over. RCB scored 190 runs on the board in the first innings and won the final by six runs.
Playing all 18 seasons since 2008, Kohli is the tournament's leading run-scorer with 8,661 runs. He is currently more than 1500 runs ahead of second-placed Rohit Sharma.
