Left-arm spinning all-rounder Mitchell Santner has joined Mumbai Indians (MI) team for the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). His inclusion provides a much-needed boost to the already strong Mumbai Indians team, who started their IPL 2026 campaign with a six-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on March 29.
Santner is expected to be available for Mumbai Indians' next match, which will be an afternoon clash against Delhi Capitals on April 4 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Santner, along with fellow teammate Will Jacques, had sought a brief break from the tournament due to personal commitments, and requested additional time off to be with family following a busy international schedule, which also included the 2026 T20 World Cup. As a result, the left-arm spinning all-rounder was unavailable for Mumbai Indians' opening match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Notably, Santner was acquired by MI in the auction for Rs 2 crore and he remains an integral part of their setup. He also brings familiarity to the team, having previously represented the franchise during the 2025 season and his economical and accurate bowling can be impactful for the team.
Santner has appeared in 31 IPL matches, scoring 110 runs as a lower-order batsman at an average of 13.75 and a strike rate of around 105. With the ball, he has been more impressive, taking 25 wickets at an average of 29.40 and an economy rate of 7.31, taking 3 for 11.
