Gurjapneet Singh struck gold on the very first ball of the seventh over. He bowled a short-of-length delivery outside off, inviting Axar Patel to take it hard. Akshar made a strong cut, but failed to stop him.
Sarfaraz, deployed at backward point, reacted brilliantly, sprinting to his right and diving full length to complete a stunning mid-air catch. It was an extraordinary effort considering the speed at which the ball was going.
The dismissal not only gave Gurjapaneet his first IPL wicket on his very first ball, but also dealt a blow to the visitors at a crucial stage, with the momentum of the game shifting in favor of CSK. The celebration was also special because the young man ran around Chepauk with great enthusiasm.
