Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Spinner Varun chakravarti 25% of his match fee has been fined and a demerit point has been given to dissolve the IPL Code of Conduct during the IPL 2025 match 57 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Eden Gardens on May 7, 2025. The IPL approved a level 1 offense under Article 2.5 of the Code, which is linked, or action -linked response.
While the IPL statement was not in detail on the specific incident, Chakravarti's crime was clear when he rejected CSK's Developed Brevis and sent him one.
Meanwhile, in the match, selected to bat first, KKR maximized Powerplay, thanks to Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sunil Narin, and Ajinkya Rahane for a quick start, to reach 67/1 in six overs. Despite the slow run-scoring rate in the middle overs due to CSK spinners, late KKR Post 179 was helped by Andre Russell's late flourishing.
The chase of CSK began poorly as he lost five wickets in the powerplay, including debutant Urville Patel, who paired 11-Gund 31. However, Brevis was a star artist with bat. In the 11th over, Brevis broke Vaibhav Arora for 30 runs. Earlier, KKR was likely to win more than 78%. After that, CSK placed himself on a driving seat.
Although Chakraborty rejected Brevis in the 13th over, the KKR could not bounce back in the competition. Shivam Dubey played a significant knock, and MS Dhoni hit the first ball of the final with the first ball for nearly an inch of the target. Ansul Kamboj then sealed the deal with a border on the mid-on, with CSK's first successful chase of 180-Plus since 2020.
KKR now finds himself the sixth on the points table, with 11 points out of 12 matches. They must win the remaining two matches against SRH and RCB, and expect favorable results for top-four finish to be in controversy.
