Vaibhav Suryavanshi Started his IPL career with a six and announced his grand arrival. Well, that one blow was no fluke, as he has continued his rampage in the second season too, and this time, it's getting even bigger. When Rajasthan Royals met Mumbai Indians in Guwahati for their IPL 2026 clash, Suryavanshi took on one of the best fast bowlers in the world, Jasprit Bumrah, who hit a six off his first ball, surprising everyone, including former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan.
The former Indian cricketer believes that keeping Bumrah on his feet is something that even the most skilled batsmen in the world have failed to do. Pathan analyzed that Suryavanshi does not think much about who the bowler coming to him is and adopts a policy of hitting the ball hard, which is unique to him.
“way Jasprit Bumrah He didn't seem to have any plan, the way he moved towards slow pace – Vaibhav Suryavanshi has forced even Bumrah to think. India has not got a bowler like Bumrah in white ball cricket. He is a goat. And this feat has been achieved against him,” Irrfan was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
The cricketer-turned-commentator said, “Any bowler who comes out, he doesn't look at his action, doesn't think much. He just sees the ball. If he gets the ball, he hits it. This thinking makes him very special.”

For those unaware, Suryavanshi's explosive performance against the five-time champions helped Rajasthan secure their third consecutive win of the season. He opened with Yashasvi Jaiswal (77 off 32) in the match which was reduced to 11 overs due to rain. The young player scored 39 runs in just 14 balls, which included five sixes and a four. He batted at an incredible strike rate of 278.57.
The 41-year-old has said that destiny is knocking at Suryavanshi's door to make his India debut and the selectors should not wait long before handing him his first international cap. With age in favor of youth, Pathan He believes that Samastipur-born players can play professional cricket for more than a few decades.
“Suryavanshi is a child of destiny. What he is doing in white-ball cricket at the age of 15 – I don't think we have ever seen anyone do that. Don't make this boy wait too long. Give him an Indian team cap. Imagine if this boy can play professional cricket for 20 years. It is scary for bowlers,” Pathan said.
