Tristan Stubbs furious after glove refusal, DC players argue with umpires

Delhi Capitals (DC) batsman Tristan Stubbs looked quite disappointed after being dismissed during the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match number 18. Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on 11th April at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The incident occurred in the 19th over of DC's chase when Jamie Overton bowled a full ball outside the off stump. Stubbs attempted to bowl it but failed to get the proper height, resulting in a simple catch to Noor Ahmed at mid-off. This dismissal proved to be a turning point in the match.

After his wicket, Stubbs looked unhappy and reacted angrily while walking back to the dressing room. He was seen dropping his bat near the stairs and later tossing his helmet after entering the dressing room. The frustration seemed to stem from an earlier moment, where he was refused to change gloves at the end of the previous over. Meanwhile, DC players Karun Nair, Nitish Rana and coach Hemang Badani were engaged in discussions with the umpire over the situation.

Overton, who bowled a clever cross-seam delivery, took advantage of the moment and played a match-winning role for CSK with excellent figures of 4/18 in his four overs.

Talking about the match, CSK batted brilliantly after being invited to bat and scored 212/2 runs in 20 overs. Ayush Mhatre made a solid contribution of 59 runs in 36 balls, while Sanju Samson played a sensational inning of 115 not out in 56 balls and opened the innings with authority.

In reply, DC could only score 189 runs despite a struggling effort. Stubbs displayed his ability and scored 60 runs from 38 balls before being dismissed untimely. However, CSK bowlers remained patient in the death overs, with Anshul Kamboj also contributing by taking three wickets.

With this 23-run win, CSK returned to winning ways and moved up to ninth position in the points table with two points, while DC remained at fourth position with four points.
