Despite prolonged treatment outside the boundary line, Ayub was unable to put any weight on his right ankle, and was seen crying when he was placed on a stretcher and taken off the field. He was later seen on crutches in a medical boot.
Ayub has established himself as an all-format star for Pakistan over the past few months, playing key roles in ODI series wins over Australia, Zimbabwe as well as here in South Africa, scoring two centuries in three matches. Because he was named the best player. series.
