With more than 4,000 runs and 149 appearances, he is the most capped and highest run-scoring player of the franchise. However, after a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign, where Royals finished ninth and Samson missed several matches due to a hand injury, these factors have allegedly taken a toll.
According to a Cricbuzz report, there have been serious differences between Samson and RR management. His family and close colleagues confirmed that Kerala batter now wanted to continue with the franchise. However, Samson is subject to contract with RR by the end of IPL 2027, meaning any trade or release should be approved by the franchise.
