“With Lungi, we know big fast bowlers like him, they sometimes require a few weeks to come back to that full flow and rhythm. This is a difficult thing for the fast bowlers. He was outside. [with a groin injury] For eight weeks. So he is on a program where he is now almost back. So we played them in the first few matches so that they could get some game time. And I am sure when we go to the highveld, he is going to come back straight, “Penny said.
South Africa’s white-ball coach Rob Walter will be particularly concerned about the NGIDI due to the number of rapid bowling injuries in the country, one of which has already affected the Champions Trophy squad. Anrich Nortje was excluded from the tournament with an injury, while the bowler is most likely to change him, Garald Koetzi, SA20 is out with a hamstring injury. South Africa has not yet got the name of a player in place of Nortze, but will have to do so before the ICC team’s deadline on 11 February.
