19th edition of Indian Premier League 2026 is underway, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match No. 3 at the Baraspara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Monday, March 30. Both teams will be keen to bounce back after disappointing campaigns last season, where they finished at the bottom end of the points table.
Ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, both the franchises were involved in a major trade deal. CSK bought Sanju Samson for Rs 18 crore, while RR added Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. However, Curran has been ruled out, with Dasun Shanaka named in his place.
RR has exciting young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel and Yudhveer Singh. Their overseas strength includes Shimron Hetmyer, Shanaka and Jofra Archer, making them a well-balanced unit.
Meanwhile, CSK will be without the services of MS Dhoni, who is out for two weeks due to a calf strain. They have invested heavily in young talents Prashant Weir and Karthik Sharma, while also adding experienced players like Sarfaraz Khan, Matt Henry, Zachary Foulkes, Rahul Chahar, Akeal Hosein, Matt Short and Spencer Johnson. With a strong core led by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, along with Dewald Brewis, Noor Ahmed, Jamie Overton, Shivam Dubey, Anshul Kamboj and Khaleel Ahmed, CSK will aim to start their campaign on a winning note.
Both teams will be determined to put the struggles of last season behind them and regain momentum at the start of IPL 2026.
