The city of Bengaluru was ready to welcome and celebrate its home team, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), in a grand way after taking his first IPL title on Tuesday night. However, in a final-minute change, a much awaited open-top bus parade has been canceled due to traffic congestion and concerns over public safety to celebrate the historic victory.
RCB defeated Punjab Kings in a thrilling final in Ahmedabad to end its 18 -year -long wait for the IPL title. The victory converted wild ceremonies into a festive mood in Bangalore, in which fans dancing to the streets, split firecrackers, and raised slogans.
The franchise initially announced a festive open-bus parade which was to begin from IST at 3:30 pm on June 4. The route was started from the mode deal after the team meeting with Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and the prestigious M. The Chinnaswamy ended at the stadium. However, a few hours after the announcement, the traffic police of Bengaluru denied permission for the parade citing security and logical concerns.
Officials revealed that managing traffic at a stretch of one kilometer in the city's Central Trade District (CBD) would be highly challenging. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) officials allegedly tried to negotiate a system, but in the interest of public orders, the parade has now been canceled.
After the decision, RCB has decided to move forward with a new plan. M. A closed program will be included in a closed program from 5 pm to 6 pm at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Access to the ceremony is limited to tickets and pass holders only. Officials have urged the attendees to rely on public transport, especially Namma Metro, as parking near the site will be extremely limited. Citizens have also been advised to advise them to reduce the approximate traffic congestion between 3 pm and 8 pm from the CBD area.
