Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Andy Flower opened his name in franchise cricket's anals after guiding the silver Patidar & Company on Tuesday, June 3, the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL) title. RCB became the champion of the IPL for the first time, who was waiting for 18 years for the first time.
After playing an important role in Vijay, Phool revealed why management became difficult to secure management services Venkatesh Iyer IPL 2025 mega auction. The former Zimbabwe captain said that the all-rounder of Madhya Pradesh has been given high status by the RCB camp, and he wanted a left-handed Indian batsman in the top-order. RCB Iyer was ready to spend 23.50 crores on Iyer, but Kolkata Knight Riders eventually brought him back with a winning bid of INR 23.75 crore.
However, Venkatesh had a forgetful season, with just 142 runs out of 11 matches at an average of 20.29. He managed only solitary half -century in the campaign. However, Flower feels that 31 -year -old would have excelled, he was played for RCB in IPL 2025.
“We actually evaluate Venky (excess), that's why we went very hard for him. It was because we gave the value of a strong Indian core for our team. We wanted some exciting young cricketers and a left -handed batsman in the top order. We wouldn't find him. I would like to think that if he used to play for us, he was really a great season,”
After failing to rope in Venkatesh, RCB switched to Plan B and brought back the Devdutt Padikkal in its lineup for the base price of INR 2 crore after being unseeded in the first round. The Karnataka batsman made a decent outing at number 3, scored 247 out of 10 matches, on an average, a hamstring injury before the strike rate of 27.44 and 150.61 excluded him from the latter part of the tournament.
