Former player of Chennai Super Kings R Ashwin Has named his favorite CSK XI for the upcoming installment of the Indian Premier League. CSK bought nine players in the auction for IPL 2026 on December 16.
Responding to CSK's tweet, he included Ayush Mhatre and Sanju Samson in the top. Captains Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dubey were placed at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. South African middle-order batsman Dewald Brewis was placed at number five.
Prashant Veer, one of the two uncapped players who were bought for Rs 14.2 crore, was ranked above the great MS Dhoni. Ashwin was divided between Akeal Hosein and Matt Henry at number eight. Ashwin singled out Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis as the surefire fast bowlers, including the wrist-spin of Noor Ahmed.
Notably, Ashwin also joined the other Rs 14.2-crore Karthik Sharma in the impact player list. Ashwin's choice for impact player was based on the team combination and various situations he faced in the list.

Chennai Super Kings 41 crore rupees were spent in the auction. Rs 28.4 crore was spent by the Men in Yellow on the upcoming uncapped Prashant-Karthik pair of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan respectively. Both of them impressed with their performances in the 2025 installment of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The Men in Yellow are the five-time champions of the Marquee T20 League. However, their season in IPL 2025 was forgettable, as they finished at rock bottom with only four wins from 14 matches, finishing with a subpar net run rate of -0.647.
