Rajasthan Royals sells huge deal worth US$1.6 billion ahead of IPL 2026

Rajasthan Royals has been acquired by Somani yesterday for a whopping price of US$1.6 billion, making it one of the most valuable franchises. Indian Premier League. The deal has been closed with just days left for the 2026 edition of the marquee T20 tournament to begin. Notably, Somani was previously a minority shareholder in the franchise, but has now gained full ownership.

This implies that the Jaipur-based team's previous majority co-owner, Manoj Badale, will reduce his stake to the Somani-led consortium, which also includes multinational corporation Walmart, which owns 100 per cent of Rajasthan Royals. Badale, who owned the team through Emerging Media, is no longer part of the Royals' ownership table.
