Rajasthan Cricket Association has contacted BCCI amid speculations about RR's IPL venue change.

Amid all the speculation about Rajasthan Royals changing their home base for IPL 2026, the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has come forward to defend Jaipur's long-standing association with the franchise. The state body has formally approached the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and requested that the Sawai Mansingh Stadium be continued as RR's designated home venue for the upcoming season.

The uncertainty around the IPL 2026 venues has increased due to administrative issues within the RCA, which has been run by a government-appointed ad-hoc committee for the past two years. According to reports, Rajasthan Royals Alternative venues, including the MCA International Stadium in Pune, were explored, raising concerns in Jaipur. However, BCCI is yet to take a final decision.

In a detailed letter addressed to the BCCI and IPL officials, the ad-hoc committee expressed its desire to resolve all concerns through communication and cooperation. RCA assured both the Board and the franchises that the Sawai Mansingh Stadium will fully meet all safety, security and infrastructure requirements ahead of IPL 2026 while strictly adhering to BCCI protocols and government regulations.

The association also clarified that it was neither informed about the Jaipur venue nor was it involved in any independent assessment. It emphasized that evaluation of government-owned stadiums should follow recognized regulatory processes and involve statutory authorities, rather than being conducted informally.

Specifically, the RCA pointed to SMS Stadium's track record of hosting IPL, domestic and international matches without major security incidents. Furthermore, it cited the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy matches across Rajasthan, including the fixtures in Jaipur, which have drawn large crowds without any problems.

RCA also wrote about the emotional and historical significance of Jaipur as the home of the Royals, noting the fan support of the franchise in the city. On that basis, it urged the BCCI to allocate RR's IPL 2026 home matches to the SMS Stadium, while assuring full cooperation to ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament. Separately, the RCA clarified that it has not received any formal instructions regarding the elections, but is ready to take action if instructed.

Meanwhile, Pune has shown its interest as an alternative option to host the Games.
