After signing to play in PSL in Monday’s draft in Lahore, the English players are seeking clarity from the ECB whether they will be given a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Under the new policy, players will be denied NOC for all foreign leagues during English summer including PSL, CPL and MLC except IPL. Players with white ball contracts with their counties will not be provided with NOCs for the competitions that do not collide with T20 blasts or hooks.
The ECB initially planned to prevent players from playing with a red ball if they did not join the county championship matches to play abroad, but they have softened their stand after pressure from the players, their agents and PCA. At this stage, Billings, Curren, Jordan and Willy are all expected to be given NOCs for PSL.
The board’s attitude is that its NOC “counseling group” will consider all requests according to the criteria set in November. ESPNcricinfo understands that in the case of PSL, it would mean that players will be eligible for NOC if they are on a white ball contract, or if they choose to re-interact again on the existing multi-form deals after the draft.
Kohaler -Cadmore and Vince are all format on contract with their respective counties – Summerset and Hampshire – and are understood that both are considering their available options. PSL is going to run from April 8 to May 19, and if both players complete their PSL deals, they will not be able to play six championship games at least first of the season.
A PCA spokesperson said: “After the announcement of NOC policy and its proposed implementation, the PCA is representing current players to find solutions on sanctions in collaboration with its members, legal team and ECB. Progress has been made in many areas. In the implementation areas, however, each NOC request is on the case-by-matter basis and continues consultation. “
