In the 18th match of the Indian Premier League 2025, Punjab Kings took Rajasthan Royals at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mulanpur, New Chandigarh. PBKS, after winning his early games, won the toss and opted to bowl first. On the other hand, RR came into the match with just one win of their first three matches and was in dire need of turnaround.
RR left for a flying start at Powerplay, scoring 53 runs without losing wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who struggled in the opening matches, got his rhythm and beautifully anchored the innings with a 67 -run command with a 67 -run knock off 45 balls. In the over of death, Ryan Parag (43* 25) and Shimron Hetmier (12 to 20) provided Finishing Touch with explosive cameo, took RR in 20 overs in a total of 205/4 in total 205/4.
The chase of Punjab Kings left for a disastrous start as Jofra Archer dismissed Priyash Arya on the first ball for a golden duck. Later in the same over, Archer gave a major blow to PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer (10 to 10 runs). At the end of the powerplay, PBKs were struggling at 43/4 and never recovered from early failures.
Despite the half -century battle with Nehal Wadhera, none of other batsmen can form partnership or keep it with the required rate. RR's disciplined bowling and fast fielding ensured that Punjab never returned to the game. PBK eventually ended at 155/9, leading to the Rajasthan Royals win 50 runs.
