great cricketer ms dhoni Chennai Super Kings not being available in the first few weeks of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is a big development. Dhoni is suffering from a calf strain, due to which he has been ruled out of the first two weeks of the tournament.

CSK confirmed Dhoni's condition in the early hours of Saturday morning, indicating that the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman will not take the field during their season-opening match against Rajasthan Royals on Monday, March 30, at the Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati.

What are CSK's options for backup wicketkeeper-batsman?

In fact, Dhoni's unavailability will definitely hurt CSK, but they do not need to think much about their man behind the wicket, as they have players like Sanju Samson to play the role in place of the 44-year-old. Meanwhile, they also have someone like Urvil Patel and a player worth Rs 14 crore like Karthik Sharma to handle the responsibilities behind the wicket.
