An expert committee of the Karnataka government met with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday, March 13. The purpose of the meeting was to decide how cricket will return to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
KSCA said the discussions were productive, but expected more updates on the matter on the evening of Monday, March 16.
“During the meeting, KSCA made a detailed presentation on the infrastructure upgrades/arrangements and security measures undertaken at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in line with the recommendations of the Expert Committee, which are to be implemented under Phase-I of the Compliance Framework,” a KSCA statement said.
“Representatives of RCB and their associated operating agencies also presented their preparedness and operational plans for the smooth and orderly conduct of the upcoming IPL matches,” it added.
The M.Chinnaswamy Stadium has not hosted any matches after the unfortunate stampede during RCB's victory celebrations. Fans were waiting for a positive update from Friday's meeting but they will have to wait a little longer.
