The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finished on Thursday, 3 April at a solid score of 200/6, despite losing two wickets inside the first three overs of 2025 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Kolkata, Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 3 April.
Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to enter the field first in repeating last year's final. SRH skipper rejected Quinton de Kock in the second over. Mohammed Shami also got among the wickets as he got rid of Sunil Narine in the third over. However, KKR did not find as captain Ajinkya Rahane and in-form Angkrish Raghuvanshi attacked Sunrisers bowlers.
He formed a luxurious 81-run partnership in 51 delivery, which to establish things well for large hits to establish things. Rahane and Raghuvanshi moved into quick succession after scoring 38 (27) and 50 (32) respectively. Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh joined the Forces and played some great strokes during a 91 -run partnership off 41 balls.

Venkatesh was rejected for 29-ball 60 in the final over. He hit seven fours and three sixes during his sparkling knock. Rinku remained unbeaten on 17 runs for 32 runs as KKR ended at 200/6 in his 20 overs. Except Simarjit Singh, all other SRH bowlers bowled at night, took a wicket.
During the middle-wall break, Venkatesh said the ball was holding a little. He said that KKR had posted a competitive total and some good bowling and fielding would give him his second win of the season.
“It was clear that the ball was holding a little bit, not the eden I have played in the last two years is a very competitive score, if we bowl and field well, we should win it. I was watching the match, it was not easy to play this shots, the ball was not easy to play, Ajink (Rakhen). And it gives us a good chance to play against good bowlers, you have seen so many bowlers and it is very challenging to play against them, “Venkatesh told the official broadcaster after his brilliant knock.
