KKR's middle-order looks a bit cold for IPL 2026: Aakash Chopra

Former Indian cricketer and former Kolkata Knight Riders player Aakash Chopra KKR may face a concern while choosing their foreign players in the XI for IPL 2026. KKR finished eighth in IPL 2025 after emerging as champions last season.

The renowned commentator shared how KKR has a history of giving the wicketkeeper-batsman a chance as one of their opening batsmen. He also mentioned the Kiwi pair of KKR's Tim Seifert and Finn Allen and felt that one of the two will reach the top.

“The topic of discussion will be which four overseas players will play. Out of the four overseas players, if they get a keeper-batsman opening, who will bat lower down the order? That is a big question. They usually have a keeper-opener. They have taken Tim Seifert And this time Finn Allen,” Chopra shared in a video on her YouTube channel.

Although Chopra stressed that an all-India middle order could eventually work for KKR, he expressed concerns about the effectiveness of playing players who have not yet performed at their best in those slots in relation to previous seasons of the league.

“If you play one of them and open with them along with Ajinkya Rahane, you will play Cameron Green at No. 3. After that the questions start coming. Angkrish Raghuvanshi at No. 4, Rinku Singh at No. 5, Ramandeep Singh at No. 6 and Tejasvi Singh at No. 7. It doesn't look that good to me. It might work, but does it look good? Your middle order looks a little cold. Is,” he said.

In addition to Allen, Seifert, and Green, KKR Rachin Ravindra, Mathisha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman were also selected in the category of foreign players, while Rovman Powell and Sunil Narine have been retained in the team even before the mini auction. They have a lot of players to choose from when choosing their four overseas players to include in the playing eleven.
