Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has officially confirmed this justin langer He will remain the head coach of the team ahead of the IPL 2026 season. The Sanjiv Goenka-led RPSG Group-owned franchise made the announcement, also revealing new appointments in its support staff, including Kane Williamson as strategic advisor and Carl Crowe as spin-bowling coach.
Since joining the IPL in 2022, Lucknow Super Giants have finished third in their debut season and are looking to repeat that success in 2023. However, the last two seasons have been less fruitful, with the franchise finishing seventh in both 2024 and 2025 under the Australian team.
Despite the decline in results, LSG's management has opted to retain Langer for long-term growth. Langer, who joined LSG in 2024, brings a strong work ethic and discipline for which he was known during his tenure as Australia head coach.
“We enter each IPL season with hope and expectations – 2026 is no exception and we are excited by the work ahead of us as we continue to build a franchise in the Goenka family that our players, sponsors, supporters and fans are extremely proud of. The work has not stopped since the end of last season as we look to leave our mark on this season's IPL. Hope, expectation and passion for LSG Growing strongly. We are hoping to strengthen our squad in the coming months. And, we look forward to seeing Ekana bathing in blue when the season starts,” Langer said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
To strengthen its backroom strength, the franchise has appointed former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson as a strategic advisor. The team also announced former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Carl Crowe as the new spin-bowling coach. Crowe joins Bharat Arun, who recently took over as fast bowling coach after leaving KKR earlier this year.
