Duminy was previously the head coach of SA20 team Paarl Royals and domestic team Boland, but it is unclear whether he will continue coaching in the immediate future.
He was with the white-ball team during the 2023 ODI World Cup semi-finals last year, but had to leave the camp due to personal reasons ahead of the T20 World Cup in the United States and the Caribbean in June this year. CSA will soon begin the process of finding a replacement, but it may not be in time for the series against Pakistan starting next week. The competition will begin with three T20Is, which will be played without the white-ball players involved in the Test series against Sri Lanka, before moving into three ODIs, which will be part of preparation for the Champions Trophy.
If no full-time candidate is found, CSA could lead its batting with former Dolphins coach Imran Khan, who was appointed in August and traveled to Bangladesh with the Test team. At the time, red-ball batting coach Ashwell Prince was unavailable, but he has returned to Test duty.
