Kolkata Knight Riders hard-hitter Ramandeep Singh finds new inspiration in the dugout ipl 2026With the arrival of Shane Watson and Andre Russell as assistant coach and power coach respectively.
Since joining KKR in 2024, during which he was part of the team that won their third IPL trophy, Ramandeep has contributed 172 runs at an impressive strike rate of 167.9, with six wickets to his name already. Most recently, Ramandeep performed brilliantly in the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with 209 runs at a strike rate of 195 and 9 wickets in 10 matches and he looks set for his best season ever in the purple and gold.
As for his pre-season preparations, the 28-year-old has been trying to adapt his game to the demands of each surface and scenario he faces.
“My approach for this year is very situation-oriented. I am working on my understanding of possible scenarios whenever I come out to bat, I am also trying to understand how the pitch is developing and play the right shots accordingly,” he said.
Ramandeep's domestic exploits this season went far beyond his batting. His performances with the ball also underlined his growing confidence in his bowling abilities and he is looking forward to making the same impact in the IPL.
“If I get a chance, I want to perform well as a bowler as well, because I believe I have the potential to be an all-rounder. I am going to give my best on the field and I hope the results come,” he said.
One of the most exciting developments for Kolkata Knight Riders this season has been the addition of veteran all-rounders Shane Watson and Andre Russell to the coaching setup. For Ramandeep, the prospect of learning from two of the best players in the game will be a great opportunity to take his game to the next level.
“It's a blessing to have him in the dugout. I want to make the most of it and absorb as much as I can from him. I also hope I can emulate his success in important, match-defining moments for the team.” He expressed.
The right-handed batsman is considered one of the most reliable finishers of KKR. He concluded by talking about the mental approach required to perform under pressure and said, “This is something I have been working on for the last one year. I want to play from situation to situation, not just entertain. My aim is to be a match winner and for that, it doesn't matter what people are saying on social media or elsewhere. My only focus is on improving my skills every day.”
