India's all-rounder Shivam Dubey Opening up about his unusual and challenging train journey back home after India's victorious T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, he opted for a train ride due to the unavailability of flights. After Team India's historic win in Ahmedabad, Dubey could not secure a flight to Mumbai due to the crowd.
Despite the risk of being recognized by fans, unlike most of his teammates who traveled by chartered or private planes, the hard-hitting all-rounder chose to take the train in a 3rd AC coach to reach home early.
In a video shared by Chennai Super Kings on X, Dubey explained how he managed to stay under the radar during the trip.
Dubey claimed, “It was quite tough. We caught the train around 5 in the morning and there were a lot of people. But since it was right after the World Cup, no one expected me to be there. I went to the upper berth and slept for a while. We slept around 5:30 and woke up at 10:30.”
Interestingly, Dubey revealed that this was not the first time he had traveled secretly by train. He recalled a similar experience during a domestic tournament last year.
“I had done this earlier too by wearing a mask. Last year, before the IPL, I traveled by train from the BPCL tournament in Baroda because I wanted to reach home early. I was sleeping on my berth and had a few friends with me,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dubey is set to reunite with his IPL franchise, where he will be joined by his India teammates sanju samson For the first time. Speaking about Samson's upcoming stint with the Chennai-based team, Dubey shared that he had already given him a glimpse of what to expect.
He said, “You will love it. It will feel like home. There is no pressure, you can just focus on your practice and training.”
Sanju Samson was traded to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of this year's IPL and had a stellar performance in the T20 World Cup for the hosts. He was awarded the Player of the Tournament award for his stellar performances in the knockout stage of the competition.
