former indian cricketer Aakash Chopra Talking about the chances of 2022 Under-19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull being picked up by an IPL franchise in the IPL 2026 auction, the young batsman has ticked all the boxes with his recent performances. Dhull has made an inspiring comeback to cricket after heart surgery last year and has since then consistently performed well in both red-ball and white-ball formats in domestic cricket.
Dhull featured for Central Delhi Kings in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, where he enjoyed an excellent campaign. He scored 435 runs in eight matches at a remarkable average of 87 and a strike rate of 167.31, including two centuries and three half-centuries, and became the third-highest run-scorer of the tournament.
The right-handed batsman also impressed for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, scoring 434 runs in five matches at an average of 48.22. His tally included one century and three fifties, with a career-best score of 189 highlighting his red-ball credentials.
With the IPL 2026 auction taking place on Tuesday, December 16, Dhull has registered himself at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. Given his recent form and resilience in overcoming adversity, many franchises may look at him as a promising long-term investment.
“Yash Dhull's journey is quite inspiring. He was seen as an emerging young player who would soon be playing for India. That dream has not come true yet, but he keeps scoring runs. Wherever he plays, he makes use of every opportunity he gets. Sometimes it is very important to remain relevant for a long time, so that when an opportunity comes, people think about him,” Chopra said in JioHotstar's Top 10 Players to Watch in Tata IPL Auction Said on 'uncapped players'.
“This season of the Delhi Premier League was quite good for him with the bat, where he scored a lot of runs, and this performance will definitely help him in the IPL. He is an Under-19 World Cup winner, and as far as the IPL is concerned, he was picked up by Delhi Capitals a few seasons ago and was given a few chances, but he was not able to take advantage of them.
