IPL 2026: MI vs RCB Match 20 – Who will be the impact players for today's match?

Mumbai Indians Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 18 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians will be glad to return home after two defeats against Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. They started their season with a win at home against Kolkata Knight Riders, the first time since 2012 that they won their opening game. But MI is yet to find the right combination. They are also awaiting the return of England all-rounder Will Jacks, who is absent due to personal reasons.

Royal Challengers Bangalore started their campaign with impressive wins against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings, but were easily defeated by Rajasthan Royals. They have been boosted by the return of Josh Hazlewood, who has returned from a long injury layoff. The defending champions will be looking to get their season back on track after the defeat in Guwahati.

Ashwani Kumar: The left-arm pacer from Punjab had a fantastic 2025 season and will be expected to play a role due to Trent Boult's poor form.

Sherfane Rutherford: The big-hitting West Indian played a brilliant cameo against the Royals and is expected to fill the middle-order slot until Jack's return.

Corbin Bosch: The Proteas fast bowler has improved his death bowling ability. His efficient batting will ensure that he is one of the first names to be considered as a backup, which was exemplified when he came into the team in the absence of Hardik Pandya.

robin minz: The wicketkeeper-batsman from Jharkhand is one of the most revered finishers in the domestic game. He has not been given a major role in the season yet, but MI need firepower in the back end, so he is expected to feature.

Raj Bawa: The Punjab all-rounder made his debut for Mumbai Indians in 2025 but has not featured since. He has been performing brilliantly as a substitute fielder, but has not yet contributed to the team with either bat or ball.

Suyash Sharma: Suyyash Sharma has been RCB's favorite player from the 2025 season, but did not play against the Royals. It is expected that he will once again make his place in the team.

Venkatesh Iyer: The India all-rounder finally made his debut for the franchise when he came across as an impressive player during the loss against the Royals. He scored a brilliant 29 runs off just 15 balls and his late cameo contributed to RCB reaching 201 after losing the wicket.

jacob bethel: England's hot prospects have yet to feature in the 2026 season. With his role occupied by in-form domestic batsmen Devdutt Padikkal and captain Rajat Patidar, he is not expected to feature much this season.

Mangesh Yadav: The highly-rated left-arm fast bowler has not been included yet this season but is expected to play soon.

Kanishk Chauhan: The young all-rounder, who was part of the 2026 U-19 World Cup-winning squad, has not been included yet but remains one of the options.

Expert Opinion and Strategies:

home advantage:Mumbai Indians have the home ground advantage and are hoping that the Wankhede crowd will help them change their fortunes.

recent form: Out of the last eight matches between these teams, Mumbai Indians have won only two.

balanced side: RCB look like a more organized unit, Mumbai have not got their combination right yet.

final prediction: Given the skills of both these teams, the match is sure to be close, but with Mumbai yet to find their right playing combination, the Royal Challengers are entering this encounter as favourites.
