Chennai Super Kings (CSK) They take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 22nd match of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 14.
Super Kings finally started their campaign with a win against Delhi Capitals as a brilliant all-round performance from the team saw them win their previous game by 23 runs. After continuous low scores, Sanju Samson finally left his mark by playing an unbeaten inning of 115 runs in 56 balls with the help of 15 fours and four sixes.
Samson played brilliantly and with composure and his innings was instrumental in taking CSK to 212/2 in 20 overs. The Super Kings stepped into the field, stopped the runs by diving and took brilliant catches. He took regular wickets and bowled out Capitals for 189 runs. Jamie Overton was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/18.
On the other hand, Knight Riders are still winless in IPL 2026. They lost their third game of the season against Lucknow Super Giants, despite being on the verge of defeat. They will be happy that their overseas batsmen like Cameron Green and Rovman Powell were scoring runs on the slow wicket at Eden Gardens. Green was given full opportunity to bowl and took his first wicket of the season against the Super Giants.
These are two of the most decorated teams in IPL history, with eight trophies to their credit. They find themselves at the bottom of the table. The Super Kings will be looking to carry forward their first winning streak, while the Knight Riders will be looking to start their season with their first win in 2026.

Pitch Report: MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
Chepauk has become synonymous with batting over the years. Gone are the days when spinners used to rule Chennai. Constructed red-clay wickets are much more consistent and conducive to high scores.
Scores above 200 have been recorded in two matches in Chennai this year, but the target could be chased on only one of those occasions. The wicket was a bit dry against Delhi Capitals. Dew is also a major factor due to the venue's proximity to the sea. The sea breeze blowing through the stadium helps the seamers quickly.
