The finishing touches from Cameron Green and Rovman Powell ensured KKR kept the momentum going and crossed the 180-run mark, which on the surface looked more than manageable.
2. KKR spinners wove their web

KKR vs LSG: Who said what?
Ajinkya Rahane, KKR captain
“It's hard to accept but we're proud of the boys for the way we played. Mukul (Chaudhary)'s innings was decisive. The execution may have been a little off here and there in the last two overs but credit to Mukul for that partnership. They had nothing to lose, 2 overs for 30 so it was about swinging every ball hard. Some balls were good but he batted brilliantly. When you lose a game it's easy to wonder what we could have done better. The score of 180 runs was not easy on this wicket. Let us give credit to the batsman for the way he batted. The intention was to keep Avesh on strike. We had to deploy five fielders and it is difficult for the bowlers.“
Rishabh Pant, LSG Captain
“When we see him (Mukul) in the nets, when you see someone, you can see that, but you know, when you do that in the match, it feels amazing. Yeah, like I don't have words to describe. It's an underwhelming match, but what a great effort. (Do you understand players coming from small towns?) One thing I have made sure of, personally, sometimes is belief and, when you make someone as a player, as a captain, they have the trust of the management, a player can do wonders, with that belief, I think it definitely plays a big role. (What impact do you think this has on the confidence and trust of the side?) It's certainly character, with every match like this, someone raises a hand, showing that there's definitely something building. We don't want to talk about it too much, but at the same time, we know there's something good brewing inside and hopefully it will come to fruition soon.“
Mukul Chaudhary, Player of the Match
“My journey started when my father was not even married, he had a dream that his son would play cricket. I started at the age group level but there were no good academies in Sikkim. I played matches in Delhi and Gurgaon and it helped me. When I was playing against U19 vs UP, it was a low-scoring game and I contributed, so he knew then that I would make it big. This was only my second match. God has given me this opportunity, there may be pressure but it is also an opportunity to make a name for myself. My aim was to bat till the end and see what happens. I also liked the first six, I had not hit a single six in two matches, so the first six was special. In my mind I knew that one of the four balls would be in the slot and I was just waiting for it. Since my childhood, I like to hit sixes rather than playing on the field.“
