IPL 2026: Coin toss result not shown in MI vs KKR match; fans raise questions


There was a bit of confusion and drama at the toss during the high-voltage Indian Premier League 2026 clash between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29.

MI captain Hardik Pandya and KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane Ravi Shastri joined for the toss before the match. Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first on the expected lines. But, this was not a topic of discussion at the time, as the result of the toss was not shown on the feed, a practice that has become routine in the IPL.

The broadcasters straight away showed a smiling Hardik Pandya and announced that MI had won the toss. With Mumbai Indians involved in this incident, discussions have started on social media regarding this blunder committed by the official broadcasters.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) started showing the sides of the coin after the toss to increase transparency and remove controversies related to fairness. The close-up zoom on the coin was implemented in IPL 2024. However, this was what was missing during the toss in MI's match against KKR.
