cameron greenLiam Livingstone, Ravi Bishnoi, Venkatesh Iyer, Mathisha Pathirana and Wanindu Hasaranga are among the 45 players who have listed themselves for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction at a maximum reserve price of Rs 2 crore.
According to ESPNcricinfo, a total of 1355 players have registered for the auction, and the long list was shared with the franchises on Monday after the November 30 deadline. With a limit of 25 players per team, a total of 77 slots, including 31 for foreign players, are available to be filled in the day-long auction to be held in Abu Dhabi on 16 December. Franchises have until December 5 to submit their wish lists, after which the IPL will add the long list to the final auction pool.
Players who are expected to attract significant attention include Australia all-rounder Green, who missed the 2025 mega-auction while recovering from a back injury. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are entering the auction with the biggest purses, Rs 64.3 crore and Rs 43.4 crore respectively, and both having overseas slots, they are considered potential bidders for Green.
Especially KKR is being seen at the forefront after the recent IPL retirement of Andre Russell. The franchise released nine players including Venkatesh Iyer, who was bought for Rs 23.5 crore last year, leaving them with 12 slots to fill, six of which are overseas. Meanwhile, CSK has nine vacancies, including four overseas posts.
Several players recently released by their franchises have also entered the top price bracket. This also includes Sri Lankan fast bowler Pathirana, who CSK retained for Rs 13 crore last year but released him amid concerns over his injury record. England all-rounder Livingstone, who was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 8.75 crore before a disappointing season, has also listed himself in the Rs 2 crore category. Indian players Iyer and Bishnoi, who were earlier retained by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 11 crore, have also been included in this bracket after their respective franchises moved on following inconsistent performances.
A notable omission from the long list is Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was signed by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 4.2 crore last year. Maxwell suffered a fractured finger during the 2025 season and was replaced by fellow Australian Mitchell Owen, who has been retained by PBKS. Another surprising development involves the wicketkeeper-batsman josh inglisWho played a key role in taking PBKS to the finals, but has re-entered the auction pool. Inglis could not commit to the entire 2026 IPL season due to personal reasons, and the IPL has informed the franchises that he will be available for only 25% of the season.
